TIDY AND SLICKED BACK HAIRSTYLES HAVE BEEN RULING THE CATWALK FOR SEASONS NOW, OOZING URBAN ELEGANCE, AND THE RUNWAYS OF MELBOURNE WERE NO EXCEPTION.
DON’T MISINTERPRET THE IDEA OF SLICK HAIR AS TOTAL OIL SLICK AND DECIDE TO LAYER ON THE HAIR GEL – THIS WILL ONLY RESULT IN YOUR HAIR LOOKING LIKE IT HASN’T BEEN WASHED FOR WEEKS! WE’VE TAKEN IT UPON OURSELVES TO PLAY MATCHMAKER, AND PAIRED THE LOOK WITH MAKEUP TRENDS ALSO SEEN ON THE CATWALKS THIS SEASON.
PERFECT MATCH 1 MINIMALISTIC MAKEUP
Out of the way Kimmy K – minimal makeup is making a splash on the fashion scene this season in a big way. The fashion pack are moving away from strong contouring and heavy brows and embracing a more simple aesthetic… lazy girls, rejoice!
With the overarching makeup look remaining minimal, the models makeup felt feminine and fresh… with an ever so slight Roman feel. The dewy skin finish suits everyone, and also gives a more youthful look – and let’s face it, who doesn’t want to instantly appear younger?
PERFECT MATCH 2 ARE YOU REDDY?
There’s no disputing the fact that nothing finishes an outfit off quite like a sultry red lip. The colour of love can do no wrong, gracing the catwalk on the luscious lips of models making the perfect statement. I’m not one to shy away from a bold lip, so I’m embracing the opportunity to wear red even more often. There are pink undertones, blue-based hues, deep blood reds… The options are endless, and there is something to suit everyone! If you think you can’t pull off a red, you’re wrong – give it a whirl, and you can thank me later when someone asks you on a hot date all thanks to your alluring lips. Red lips were featured by shakuhachi, Akin by Ginger, Bianca Spender and Keepsake, all very different brands which shows that a red lip is so versatile and suitable for any occasion.
PERFECT MATCH 3 PEACHY AND A LITTLE BIT CHEEKY
Let’s be honest, we all have a make-up misstep or two lurking in our histories – be it the terrifying line around the jaw most commonly caused by utilising foundation three shades too dark, to a bold unblended line of bright pink blush on the cheeks… are you cringing yet? Step away from the heavy blush, bronzer, eyeshadow and bold lip combo that so many of us have fallen victim to –while it may get you a clowning gig or two at children’s birthday parties, it’s probably not the look you really want! Keep it peachy with your make up to avoid clowning it up. Opt for a minimalistic base, and a light wash of a peach blush on the cheeks. This will keep you looking fresh, flawless and not clown like at all… leave the magic tricks at home!
