IT’S NO SECRET THAT THE CREATIVE BRAINS CURRENTLY MAKING UP THE CULTURE COMMUNITY LOVE A SPLASH OF UNEXPECTED COLOUR IN THEIR STYLE INSPIRATION. BE IT BOBBED OR LENGTHY, PASTEL OR BOLD, CREATIVELY COLOURED LOCKS HAVE UNQUESTIONABLY BECOME THE NEW LOOK DUJOUR. SO WHEN WE HEARD WHISPERS OF A TREND SLOWLY EMERGING FROM THE DEPTHS OF SOCIAL MEDIA INTO THE LIMELIGHT, MORE THAN ONE BROW IN CULTURE HQ ROSE IN SURPRISE. MOVE ASIDE CANDY-COLOURED QUAFFS, BECAUSE EYEBROWS ARE TAKING CENTRE STAGE. BY JESSICA WILLIAMS.
That’s right, your eyebrows are now taking their rightful place at the forefront of the fashion pack. Be your brows bleached, bedazzled or dyed bright blue, there’s nothing more current than keeping the focus firmly on your face. The trend is taking serious hold amongst the social media queens currently ruling the scene… and now celebs and stylists alike are jumping on the bandwagon with reckless abandon, and shaking it up in a big way. Whilst Kaley Cucuo’s pastel pink arches made headlines yesterday, bleached brows have been the take on the trend favoured by celebrities thus far. Aside from being featured in what felt like half of our Autumn editorial spreads, we seen the bold brows showcased on the faces of Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus, FKA twigs… even Kimmy K’s given the look a red hot go!
Bedazzled arches were the preferred bold brow a little closer to home, spotted on more than a few of the models marching down the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Australia catwalks held last month – flakes of gold, oversized pearlescent sequins and rainbow diamontes sat atop models eyes, bringing a little bling to the hotly contested beauty arena.
The trendsetters of the world have had their say – simply having strong brow game just ain’t cutting it in 2015, and as far as brows are concerned… the bolder, the better.
Having now brows-ed the trend (pun very much intended), we want to hear what you think! Take to the culture Facebook page, and let us know – is the bold brow all class, or a hard pass.
