Always an anticipated event in the fashion scene, the Whitehouse Institute of Design Sydney delivered a three day series of Open Days earlier this month, assisted by Pivot Point Academy and Kenneth Stoddart. Public and press were invited in to view the student collections showcased in a series of runway parades.
A Pivot Point Academy student team joined the stylists backstage to execute hair styles, under the direction of acclaimed hairdresser and session stylist Kenneth Stoddart. Mr Stoddart shared his vision with the Pivot Point team, and worked alongside students for the first show to demonstrate his styles on the models. For the next two days of shows, Pivot Point students were on their own and strived to replicate Mr Stoddart's concept.
Liz Tagla of Bauhaus Hair in Waterloo, and Pauline Kondilios, a Pivot Point Academy educator, were on hand to provide support for the students. Ms. Kondilios expressed her excitement about the shows, and "the opportunity to work under the direction of such an acclaimed stylist." The best part, she said, "was seeing the students use the technical skills they have mastered to successfully emulate Mr. Stoddart's." The students undertook the challenge with enthusiasm and motivation, and delivered an innovative look that complemented the stunning clothing collections.
