Some of Australia's most talented hairdressers have been revealed at the unveiling of the state finalists for the 2011 Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award. This year's finalists presented stunning creations to win the opportunity to represent their state at the Trend Vision National finals.
Hundreds of hairdressers showcased their work in photographic entries to compete for a top spot representing their state in the internationally acclaimed competition. Stylists submitted work for one of two categories: Color or Young Talent, interpreting one of the 4 trends: Passionista, Lumina, Polaris or Glamazon.
The Colour Category recognises exceptional colouring technique and finish with haircut, make up, accessories and clothes. The Young Talent division is open to hairdressers that are under the age of 30 and honours excellent achievement in haircut technique and finish, creative interpretation and refinement of the trend by creating a total look.
The 2011 judging panel for the Wella Trend Vision Awards boasts some of the industry's biggest names, including: Mark Hayes and Edwards Darley from Vidal Sassoon UK, Bruno Giamattei from Marc Anthony and the Fame Team UK, Phillip Gallo from Gallo Hair, Makeup Artist Melanie Burnicle and the Beauty Director of Madison Magazine, Stephanie Darling.
Having judged the Wella Trend Vision Awards in past years, Phillip Gallo has seen a variety of creative cuts and colours, but continues to be blown away by the standard of the competition every year.
‘I've judged Trend Vision many times and must say that this year was the strongest yet! As a trend, Polaris stood out with some really striking interpretations. It was so inspiring to see some very young people in the under 30 category creating looks which were technically perfect," he said.
Mark Hayes from Vidal Sassoon complimented local stylists by saying: "I judge many competitions - Creative Head Awards, British Hairdresser of the Year, North American Hairdressing Awards to name just a few. I can confidently say that Australia produces some of the best hairdressers in the world. In comparison to last year there were more stand out entries - tasteful, contemporary, pushing the boundaries."
The Wella Trend Vision Award also incorporates People's Choice Award, which is chosen nationally through online voting by members of the public and the hairdressing profession with the winner being announced at the National final. Members of public and hairdressing community are encouraged to vote for their favourite People's Choice Award at: www.wellatrendvisionpeopleschoiceawards.com, from 1st July 2011.
The finalists from each state will travel to Sydney to compete in the National Final on Monday 5th September. Apart from witnessing 30 finalists recreate their photographic entries live, guests will be treated to a show from Travis Balcke of Valonz, Wella Professionals Care & Styling Ambassador.
This exciting event will be held at Australian Technology Park, 2 Locomotive Street, Eveleigh, NSW. Doors open at 7pm.
To book your ticket call 1300 889 886.
National winners announced on the night will represent Australia at the International Trend Vision Award in New York in October.
