Melbourne Spring Fashion Week launched this week with Australia’s most acclaimed hair stylist, Kevin Murphy, taking the prestigious title of Hair Director for the seventh consecutive year.
Murphy and his team of stylists will be responsible for the creation and execution of the stunning runway looks of the prestigious MSFW Designer Series shows, where the latest collections from Australia’s esteemed fashion designers including Arthur Galan AG, Aurelio Costarella, Akira, Collette Dinnigan, Bettina Liano, Gorman, Alice McCall and YeoJin Bae will be showcased.
As Hair Director, Murphy’s role at the festival will also extend to hosting a series of “Session Secrets” workshops at the KEVIN.MURPHY Fashion Week Salon at City Square. The KEVIN.MURPHY styling team will expertly demonstrate how to create Murphy’s signature styles in a series of ‘how-to’ style lessons for fashion enthusiasts.
“I am thrilled to be Hair Director of Melbourne Spring Fashion Week for the seventh year running. Having grown up in this fabulous city, I am so proud to create the stunning, statement hair for this inspiring Melbourne event,” says Murphy.
Murphy will also be responsible for ensuring that the ‘face’ of MSFW, Melbourne model Lucy McIntosh, and festival ambassador, style icon, Ruby Rose, are looking their glamorous best throughout the week.
Having styled an extensive celebrity A-list including Miranda Kerr and Catherine McNeil, Murphy’s work has featured in several top fashion magazines such as Vanity Fair, US Harpers Bazaar, British Elle and is regularly seen on the cover of Vogue Australia. The KEVIN.MURPHY brand is a favourite amongst Australia’s top fashion and beauty publications making it the perfect partner for Melbourne’s premier fashion festival.
The KEVIN.MURPHY range of luxury shampoos, conditioners and styling products is stocked in over 4,000 salons throughout Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, Europe, Asia, and the United States, where the KEVIN.MURPHY range became the most successful brand start up ever in the beauty sector.
