Murphy’s Law | Cuts, care and community love

As a community of creatively minded good Samaritans, there’s never a shortage of heartwarming stories filling the culture HQ inbox… And on the eve of Homelessness Prevention Week, what better time is there than the present to shine a light on those oft ignored?

THE BIG-HEARTED TEAM OVER AT MURPHY GOZZARD ARE QUITE WELL ACQUAINTED WITH THE WARM AND FUZZY FEELING THAT COMES FROM THE ACT OF DOING SOMETHING SELFLESS, WITH THEIR LATEST VENTURE YET ANOTHER PHILANTHROPIC TRIUMPH FOR THE CLOSE KNIT COMMUNITY.

Setting their sights on those without sufficient shelter and means of supporting themselves, July 21st saw the 26 strong group of hairdressers – headed up by co-owners Brett Albury and Brett McKinnon – collaborate with Sydney Homeless Connect to distribute 400 haircuts, 300 haircare packages and countless smiles to those less fortunate.

“We are so humbled to play a role in the development of increasing awareness of homelessness within the Sydney community,” they explain of their involvement. “It is something that we can feel quite removed from in Paddington, which is why it is so crucial for us to stand up and play our part and encourage others to do the same.”

This compassionate mindset is something that has led to Murphy Gozzard’s continued support of plights such as Homelessness Prevention Week, held in August every year to drive home the very real issues faced by our homeless community… specifically in the ice-cold Winter months.

Next up for the team is their collaboration with charitable organization Roughthreads on August 15th, in which another team of their clever cutters will work their magic on (and spread a little cheer to) some more homeless guests.
